Châteauville Foundation’s 2011-12 Season!
Sep 8, 2011The last notes of the third and most successful season of the Castleton Festival are still resounding in the air… Our heartfelt thanks to all those of you who brought enthusiasm, positive energy and support to our efforts!
We are thrilled to open our fall season with an artist who fully embodies the Castleton spirit: Nathan Gunn, one of the most charismatic and in-demand baritones of the day. We invite you to come join us on Saturday, October 1st at 7:00 PM for an evening of favorite traditional & popular repertoire with this irresistible, highly entertaining performer, accompanied by his wife, concert pianist Julie Gunn. You can check his website for his new CD: www.nathangunn.com.
Also on the horizon this fall is another recital through our ongoing partnership with the Keyboard Trust. On Sunday, October 23, at 4:00 PM, the young Uzbekistani pianist Michail Lifits, a winner of multiple international competitions, will play works by Schubert and Liszt.
On Sunday, November 6, at 4:00 PM we will be presenting an extraordinary master of the classical guitar, hailed by the international press as the “Ambassador of the classical guitar”: Berta Rojas, with a program centered on the passionate sounds of South American music.
For the holidays, we will bring young baritone Jonathan Beyer (this Festival’s “Schaunard” in La Bohème) and Kristin Okerlund in a most unusual four-hand piano & vocal recital loaded with good humor…to send you off into the holiday season with a big smile! Mark in your calendars: December 2nd at 7:00 PM.
Looking further ahead, a true highlight of the season will be a performance by the Leipzig String Quartet on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 7:00 PM in Castleton. The Leipzig String Quartet has developed a program entitled Dr. Faustus, based on Thomas Mann’s famous novel, with narrator (in English), and will first perform it in Castleton before taking it to New York.

We greatly look forward to welcoming you to Castleton once again. For our new Festival patrons, we believe you will find a visit during the fall or spring to bring the rewards of spectacular Rappahannock scenery together with world-class performances in our intimate Theatre House. There is no concert-going experience quite like a day or weekend in Castleton at any time of year!
