2008 Castleton Residency Production
After the success of The Beggar's Opera in March, a second Castleton Residency for 2008 has now been planned. We will complete our cycle of the Britten chamber operas with the most ambitious of those scores, Albert Herring. Returning to direct is Englishman William Kerley, who will again be collaborating with set and costume designer Nicholas Vaughan and lighting designer Rie Ono.
Performances under the direction of Lorin Maazel are scheduled for October 11 and 12, 2008 in Castleton. See the Event page for full details of the cast. The instrumental ensemble will be drawn from students at London's Royal College of Music.
Soprano Nancy Gustafson will be a Guest Artist-in-Residence, coaching and mentoring the singers.
As with past Residencies, the young artists are participating in community outreach, singing at an October 4 event in support of the Fauquier Hospital.
